Taiwan Orchids Bloom in Worldwide Markets |
Taiwan orchid exports have continued to post record sales. In 2004, Taiwan's annual orchid exports were valued at US$23 million. Shipping to 36 countries around the world, Taiwanese orchid exporters now find themselves posting over US$130 million in total overseas sales every year. Taiwanese orchid breeders' advanced breeding technologies enable them to offer the indigenous Taiwan Phalaenopsis, or moth orchid, in a huge variety of beautiful colors. As Taiwan grows its strengths in breeding, diversity, variety and novelty, the country has won its bid to host the 23rd World Orchid Conference in 2020. The triennial event is regarded as the Olympic Games of the orchid industry. Held annually in Taiwan, the Taiwan International Orchid Show has already become one of the top 3 orchid expositions in the world. Every year there is something new to see.
